Manimahesh lake is a high altitude Lake situated close to Manimahesh Kailash peak in pir panjal range of Himalayas, in the bharmour subdivision of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh. the religious significance of this lake is next to that of Mansarovar lake in Tibet.
This lake is located at altitude of 4190m (13,390ft) above the sea level. This lake is covered with ice in a time period of October to june. You can reach hair by tracking from Hadsar village in Bharmour. Manimahesh lake is spread in an area of 1 km. This is very beautiful lake is surrounded with tall high hills.the holy pilgrims to the Manimahesh Lake (revered by local people is resting place of lord Shiva)is supported by the government of Himachal Pradesh, ManiMahesh pilgrimage commity and several organisation.


For the Gaddi tribal population of region, pilgrimage to the lake is most holy,it is held every year during the month of Badon,according to Hindu calendar on the day of Janmashtami also known as Chhota snan and and on the day of Radha ashtami known as bada snan.The pilgrimage is known as Manimahesh yatra .the government of Himachal Pradesh has declared it as a state level.






How to reach ManiMahesh lake.

the easiest route is from Chamba and runs through Bharmour. At present buses goes up to hadsa via Bharmour, beyond Hudson you have to tracking for 13 km to reach ManiMahesh lake.between hadsar and Manimahesh there is an important halting place known as Dhanchho where you can spend a night. There is a beautiful waterfall.

About one and half km shrot of Manimahesh Lake fall two religious important water bodies known as Gauri kund and Shiva krotri respectively.the women pilgrims do take bath in Gauri kund and the men pilgrims in shiva krotri before proceeding to Manimahesh Lake.
