Khajjiar is the most beautiful place in chamba(H.P) and also a very famous hill station. It is also known as "Mini switzerland". khajjiar is one of the 160 places in the world that bear tropical resemblance to Switzerland. Khajjiar is also known as "Gulmarg of Himachal Pradesh". Khajjiar is located at 6500ft height in the foothills of Dhauladhar range of western Himalayas.
It is a part of vast expanse of green meadows and dense forests besides vistas a majestic snow-clad Himalayan peaks make Khajjiar a famous tourist destination.
"On 7 july 1992,the then vice chancellor and head of chancery of switzerland in india, Willy Blazer called Khajjiar"the mini switzerland". The comparison came into his mind due to striking topographical resemblance of this place with Switzerland".
The chancellor also took a stone which will form part of a stone collage around the Swiss embassy to remind the visit of khajjiar as "Mini switzerland of india".
Khajjiar serves as the starting point to the treks to Dalhousie,Chamba and Kalatop wildlife sanctuary.

Among others, trekking is the best way to explore khajjiar. Zorbing,which involves rolling downhill from inside a air bubble of rubber "zorb", is a popular recreational activities during aprail and may. You can also enjoy paragliding in khajjiar.
Khajjiar offers treks to Dainkund which is about 4 km away and is esay/moderate trekking destination.this treks starts from khajjiar on Dalhousie-khajjiar road and ends at Phaloni Devi Temple at Danikund with excellent views and beautiful camping sites.
There is a very beautiful lake in khajjiar known as "khajjiar lake" in which water lily flower are grown every year in summer.the lake is set in a huge grassy landscape,with evergreen cedar trees surrounding it from all sides.this lake takes its name form khajji Naag whose temple is also located here.
When to come khajjiar.
You can reach khajjiar in anytime in the whole year. The climate of khajjiar is cool or moderate all over the year. The temperature in summer is reach about 30°C maximum and in winter it goes to -6°C.
Khajjiar is covered in snow and the snow looks like white silver and the whole khajjiar is looks like white plate.

Khajjiar is very exotic place there are many hotels as this is very famous tourist place.there are may two-star,three-star and five-star hotels available to stay.
Khajjiar is located about 27 km away form the chamba town the headquarters of chamba district (H.P).Hrtc buses and private cab service are also available to khajjiar from every major cities. You can reach here by all major cities such as Pathankot, Dharmshala,punjab etc. The nearest airport are Dharamshala (100km away from khajjiar) and pathankot airport (120km away from khajjiar) . The nearest Railway station is Pathankot cantt.you can visit jot when come to khajjiar which is just 12 km away from khajjiar and is a very beautiful place.
The famous tourist destination Dalhousie is just 10 km away from Khajjiar.
